Why we do it ...
Two recent studies establish a causal relationship between music and enhanced learning abilities.

• music training, especially piano instruction, is far superior to computer instruction in dramatically enhancing children's abstract reasoning skills, which are essential to learning subjects such as math and science.
• Music lessons contribute to the development of the brain and spatial intelligence.
• Music studies increase reading skills and math proficiency dramatically.
• Music improves reading ability.
• First graders who received music instruction five days a week for seven months scored significantly higher than those students with no music training on a standard reading test.
• Music study improves SAT scores.
• Students who studied music performance or appreciation early on scored higher on both the verbal and math portions of the test than students with no coursework or experience in the arts.
• Music is also significant as a tool to fostering basic linguistic skills.

Without music in every child's education, we will not be giving our children the best possible education for their development as human beings. Music contributes to a person's ability to perform whether that's with a musical instrument or a new technology we've yet to dream of. The evidence is in. Music makes you smarter!

Who we are ...
Greg Berger, a graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston, is Be Sharp Music's Program Director and Chief Instructor. Known as Mr. Greg to his students, he is not only an excellent teacher, but also a highly acclaimed professional musician. He has over 20 years of music teaching and coaching experience heading up a highly qualified and trained staff of musicians/music instructors. All of the Be Sharp instructors have an excellent reputation for inspiring and motivating children of all ages, while still maintaining control over the classes.

Our friendly, fun, yet professional manner of music instructional techniques fascinate and dazzle every child. The kids anxiously look forward to participating in all of the groups musical activities and fun.

What we do....
Younger kids learn: Nursery Rhymes, songs, Rhythm movements, finger plays, dance, music discovery, sing along and even line dances. They will also get a hands on exciting experience with many instruments such as bells, drums, sticks, shakers as well as be introduced to keyboards, guitar and many other musical instruments.

Older children, in addition to all of these things, start learning the basics of beginning piano, keyboards, guitar, horns, wind, string instruments, voice, harmonica, percussion, music theory, technique, sight reading, and music appreciation. (Classes include pre k, Kindergarten, 1st Grade and higher)

How we do it ...
Mr. Greg has developed a unique tried and true teaching method which utilizes his college training, years of individual and classroom teaching experience while including Key instructional highlights from major music programs such as Alfred's, Bastien, Thompson, Mel Bay, & Yamaha, And Suzuki methods.

He and his instructors strive to instill in their students the highest level of musical appreciation, accomplishment, self confidence and above all a love of playing and singing. They always welcome input from parents, teachers and of course, the children.

The result is Be Sharp music, just ask the kids, it works!
